“Promoting varied approaches to the teaching learning process” &“Facilitating for Crossover learning and team based learning framework”
Topics Covered: Teacher’s responsibilities, various teaching & learning methods like discussion strategies, interdisciplinary teaching methods etc. and usage of various resources for teaching & their advantages in making student have a better learning experience.
Objectives Fulfilled: Participants understood the possible various approaches that can be used and bring in good learning experience to students.
Session Conduction details: Session started at 10:00 am by Dr. Girija Srinivasalu with a question posed to all the participants to choose a topic of their subject and write the objectives which they will try to achieve in their class. Then the session continued with discussions on various approaches that can be used to fulfill the decided objectives. The topics like academic skills and non-academic skills were focused upon with various kinds of examples with their significance. Further to that, varied approaches like activity based teaching techniques, case study method of teaching, problem based learning approach and collaborative & cooperative teaching methods were also discussed. For using these techniques in their classroom, a practical activity was given to the participants by dividing them into 6 groups of 2 participants each. They were supposed to choose a topic and were asked to give an elaborative presentation on the below topics with the specified format given by the resource person.
1) Objectives for learning of the topic by specifying the concepts with brief description.
2) Methodology suitable to facilitate the topic- specified concepts
3) Plans for required pre work by the faculty and students.
4) Listing out the resources/ materials required for the selected method and topic.
5) Deciding upon the evaluation methods which would be used to understand the level of understanding of the students.
With the above stated format, the participants had chosen appropriate topics related to finance, marketing and human resources and was presented very well following which there was a detailed discussion and exchange of ideas.
Usefulness of the Session: Various approaches presented by the participants encouraged each of them to explore the methods discussed during the session while facilitating the students. Also participants were convinced that their choice of approach should not only depend on the topic but also on the understanding level of the students.
Consolidated Report on “Facilitating for Crossover learning and team based learning framework”

Topics Covered: Crossover based learning methods and Team based learning framework & advantages in modern day’s facilitation.
Objectives Fulfilled: The participants will be able to understand the techniques for implementing Crossover learning procedure, changing problem based learning approach to team based learning approach. Empowering students via dialogue approach of teaching by knowing the learning styles of the students.
Session Conduction details: The session started at 9:30 am by Ms Hima Bindu of QASDC team with a discussion and a deep dive was conducted to understand the need for various methods in teaching learning process in handling the various learning styles of the learners in the classroom. After the tea break detailed presentation for using team based learning method in the classroom was shown. Do’s and don’ts of this method were discussed. As the session was planned to give practical exposure to the participants on implementing the Team based learning method, the participants were divided into 4 groups of three participants each. Each of them were then asked to work on the below
1) Strategic way of dividing students into groups -: The group whom this was assigned had to present various possible combinations of dividing students into groups.
2) Topic for self study -: This group gave presentation on how to guide & encourage students to study a particular topic by themselves and ensure that they are ready for the test.
3) Readiness assurance test –: How to frame question paper & what parameters should be considered.
4) Lecture Method –: How should the faculty plan the lecture and what criteria’s should be considered. Usefulness of the Session: At the end, participants understood the right way of using Team Based Learning method in the classroom. Also a detailed discussion on methods to convince students for using these innovative teaching techniques had taken place.
