Industrial Visit to TVS Motors, Hosur

Industrial Visit is essential for students pursuing MBA Program. It assists in bridging the gap between academia and Industry. The MBA department of New Horizon College of Engineering has organized an Industrial Visit to TVS Motors, Hosur on 09.05.2022. The first semester MBA students along with the faculty coordinators were taken out for the Industrial Visit. The Journey towards the TVS Motors started by 12:15 PM and reached the factory by 1:45 PM.
The visit started with briefing about the safety guidelines to be followed by the students during the visit. Then, the introduction about the TVS Motor Company was given to the students. TVS Motor Company is the third largest two wheeler company in India with a revenue of over ₹18,217 crore (over US$2.9 billion). It has an annual sale of more than 3 million units and an annual capacity of over 4.95 million vehicles. TVS Motor is also the 2nd largest exporter in India with exports to over 60 Countries. TVS Motors two wheeler annual production capacity is 4.95 Million vehicles, and three wheeler annual production capacity is 1.2 Lakhs vehicles. TVS Motor manufactures the largest range of 2-wheelers, starting from mopeds, to scooters, commuter motorcycles, to racing inspired bikes like the Apache series and the RR310.The company has four manufacturing plants, three located in India (Hosur in Tamil Nadu, Mysore in Karnataka and Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh) and one in Indonesia at Karawang.
After the Introduction students were taken to visit the assembly line were two wheelers will come as a finished product at the end of the process. A detailed briefing was given regarding Tact time, Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV), Kaizen, 5s Principles followed, etc. Finally the visit ended with a question answer session where doubts were clarified. Overall it was a great experience for the students to visit the factory and get exposure regarding Manufacturing and Operations Management.
