SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS
Design Thinking Workshop
The Design Thinking Workshop for MBA students was held on 25th and 26th of May 2025 facilitated by the innovation expert, Mr. Ramani Venkat. The workshop introduced students to a human-centered, iterative approach to solving complex business challenges. The workshop blended theory with hands-on activities to help students internalize the five phases of design thinking: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. Students engaged in empathy exercises, interviewing peers and creating personas to understand user needs deeply. They used tools like empathy maps and journey mapping to visualize user experiences and pain points.
Ideation techniques such as brainstorming, SCAMPER, and mind mapping helped generate a wide range of creative solutions. Teams developed over 30 ideas each, focusing on real-world challenges like urban mobility for the elderly. Selected ideas were transformed into low-fidelity prototypes using simple materials. Peer feedback was gathered using the “I Like, I Wish, What If” method to refine designs.
Prototypes included innovations like AI-powered smart canes, community transport apps, and smart bus seating. Students presented their design journeys, based on innovation, empathy, and feasibility. The workshop also explored case studies on disaster relief and retail inclusivity. Tools like personas, role-play, and storytelling enhanced the learning experience. Students reported increased empathy, creativity, and confidence in problem-solving.
Outcomes included seven working prototypes and three ideas shortlisted for further development. The event concluded with certificates, reflections, and plans to launch a Design Thinking Club and monthly innovation sprints.
