International Management/Faculty Development Programme conducted on 17th & 18th June, 2020

An International Management/Faculty Development Programme was conducted on 17th & 18th June, 2020 by the Department of Management Studies, New Horizon College of Engineering on the topic “The Role of Technology in Business Management for the Revival of Economic Slowdown”

The speakers were Mr. Manjunatha, Mr. Naresh, Mr. Terrence Martin and Dr. Sheelan Misra.

The session started with the opening remarks delivered by the Head of Management Department Dr. SheelanMisra.
Dr. Manjunatha, Principal, New Horizon College of Engineering shared his view on the topic “Paradigm shift in the Education Sector”. He spoke about the challenges in working environment post COIVD-19, economic viability of business, and adopting technology for sustainability in education, emphasizing on the flexibility of students and teachers to have a paradigm shift in the new mode of teaching and learning.

Mr. Naresh, Techno functional Manager in PLM-MES-ERP-IOT-Block chain Technology shared his views on “Role of Block chain in Business Transformation”. He spoke how Block chain is becoming important, transforming technology and re-shaping the businesses. Mr. Naresh also emphasized block chain strategy and business case used in different sectors like Finance, Banking, Supply chain, Healthcare etc. He also spoke about the challenges faced in Block Chain.

Mr. Terence Martin, Cloud Consulting Partner, Wipro Limited, Watford, UK shared his views on “Cloud Technologies”. He gave an insight on market share of cloud service providers, Benefits of moving to cloud, Impact of COVID on the

cloud, Industry view on Energy & Utilities, Manufacturing. He also gave an insight on Digital Transformation.

Dr. Sheelan Misra, Professor & Head- Management Studies, NHCE shared her views on “Technology in the New age Marketing” She spoke about Industry 4.0, How Marketing has Evolved with Industry, Difference between Traditional marketing and New Communication Model, Reason for death of customer loyalty., Threat of commoditization, Digital Disruption. She emphasized that companies who are desperate need to distinguish them, shift from traditional marketing to internet marketing, social media Influence and word of mouth marketing, IoT, New Age Marketing.

She Emphasized on Key Shifts in Marketing

2.Shift of power to the consumer
3.Increasing pressure to do more with less

Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Business Analyst, University of Michigan, USA shared her views on “Business Analytics in the Digital Era”

She started her session with Defining Business Analytics, Difference between Business Analytics or Business Analysis, Role of Business Analyst, Business Analytics Process, Types – Analytics. Ms. Ayushi even used Business Case Example in different Sectors for better understanding, she even emphasized on Tools/Skills required for Business Analytics.

Mr. Mohan Kumar, Global Practice Head at Wipro, shared his views on “Insights into Analytics”

He briefed on how we can’t go back to Normal because of COVID, Demographic Tremors, and the industry perspective and how the organizations are looking at micro-level and learning will not stop. Mr. Mohan also shared information as to how to prepare for the ‘New Normal’, the industry outlook, trends, the future of work, and the business impact with suitable examples.

Ms. Ayushi Mishra, Forbes 30 under 30 (Asia), Johns Hopkins University, COO & Co-Founder, Drona Maps Pvt. Ltd. Shared his Views on “Artificial Intelligence – Opportunities & Challenges”

Ms. Ayushi spoke on Applications of AI in different areas Application of AI in different areas, mapping the cities by using Drones-A case of Ayodhya city, Application of Image analysis, She also emphasized on Usage of AI in precision agriculture, smart cities, smart villages, flood management, Predictive analytics, Health care analytics etc.

Ms. Preeti Tanwar, Career Mentor and Edupreneur, CEO, HiEd Success, Greater Atlanta Area, USA, Shared her views on “Post-Covid Workforce Skill Sets”.

Ms. Preeti spoke on Post covid career options, Analytics and process operation that help career success, Institution sustainability by converting courses into online courses, she briefed on Application of analytics in decision making.

At the end of the session of each speaker multiple questions were posed by the attendees and were addressed patiently by the speakers.

Dr. Sainath Professor of Department of Management studies summarized 2 days International Management/Faculty Development Programme and extended the vote of Thanks.

All the participants gave very optimistic feedback on the FDP and congratulated the whole team effort in organizing the FDP flawlessly.
