Session on Union Budget 2020-2021

Department of Management Studies organized budget session on 12thFeb in the Falconry Seminar Hall, New Horizon College of Engineering. Dr. Karunamoorthy, Administrator Gopalan Group of Institutions and Former Inspector of Central Excise and Customs, Government of India was the resource person. He briefed the MBA students and the faculty members on various aspects of budget presented by the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman on 1st February 2020.

During the session, several aspects relating to the macro economic variables like inflation, interest rates, fiscal deficit, GDP, growth rate, taxes rates etc were discussed.

The speaker was of the opinion that though the budget was one of the longest speeches by a finance minister, there was no much take away for common man. He highlighted upon the new tax regime one with deductions and one without deductions. He discussed the various government schemes for the budget period.

On the whole, the budget session was well taken by all. The participants got insights into the direction in which the economy was moving. Students got opportunity to interact with the speaker on one to one basis.

The budget session ended with a thanks giving by Prof Sainath on behalf of the department and the college.
