INDUSTRIAL VISIT

The MBA department of New Horizon College of Engineering has organized an Industrial Visit to Bangalore Milk Union Limited (BAMUL),

Industrial Visit is of prime importance for students pursuing MBA Program. It assists in bridging the gap between theory and practice. The MBA department of New Horizon College of Engineering has organized an Industrial Visit to Bangalore Milk Union Limited (BAMUL), Bengaluru on 30.01.2023 and 31.01.2023. The third semester MBA students along with the faculty coordinator were taken out for the Industrial Visit. The Journey towards the BAMUL started by 9:15 AM and reached the factory by 10:45 AM.

The visit started with briefing about the introduction of BAMUL was given to the students by the Mr. Manjunatha. He started the session by introducing about the importance of milk, essential nutrients in milk, health benefits of milk etc. After highlighting the basics of milk, he introduced about the inception of BAMUL, the activities carried out by BAMUL such as checking the quality of milk which is received by the milk processing unit, heat treatment given to the milk, like pasteurization, homogenization because raw milk procured from villages, contain numerous pathogenic and spoilage bacteria. These microorganisms, if allowed to grow, multiply at logarithmic rate and produce many toxins and enzymes and spoil milk. Hence milk is processed by heat treatment in dairies.

After the briefing, students were taken to visit the plant were milk is processed. The following are the steps followed by BAMUL for processing of milk:

Step 1: Receiving the Raw Milk

Step 2: Checking for Adulteration and Purity

Step 3: Randomly selecting a sample to check the Milk consistency

Step 4: Homogenization

Step 5: Butter and Milk Channels Circulation

Step 6: Packaging and Transportation of Processed Milk.

Finally the visit ended with the question answer session where students clarified their doubts and the students were very happy about the visit to BAMUL. Overall it was a good learning experience for the students to visit the factory and get exposure regarding Operations management, Warehousing, Human resource management, Funds management and Marketing of Processed Milk.
