On 27-12-2019, we students of NEW HORIZON COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, MBA Dept,visited AKSHAYAPATHRA FOUNDATION, Bangalore.This foundation was established by Pandit A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, in year 2000, in order to eliminate classroom hunger by implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in the government schools and as well aided government schools. It also focuses on countering malnutrition and supporting the right education of socio-economically disadvantaged children.

Today akshayapathra is the World’s largest Mid-day meal programme serving wholesome food every school day over 1.76 million children from 14702 schools across 12 states in India.

A group of 180 students visited this foundation along with visiting the ISKON temple situated. It was a great experience visiting foundation, as we were enlighten about such a great foundation, which works in development of the Society. Students were grouped in batch wise and allowed inside the production unit, where we were explained about the production process which includes cooking, testing and packing.

By this experience we got a knowledge about the gravitational force , on this unit total materials are supplying by the gravitational force without using any electric machines.The supplies of food materials from starting to final process.

The unit in charge shows a demo video at conference room about the role and objectives of akshaya patra, finally students gained knowledge about the food processing technology and how well akshayapatra plans the process and execute in a most efficient manner and social objectives behind their program. Also students understood the value of food and importance of it & about food wastage. Students also gained knowledge about financial aspects of the program how it is managed by the support from the donors and government. It was indeed a great experience to know about the operation of akshaya patra.
