Skill Development and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Outreach Programme - Government School, Doddagubbi Village
The Department of Management Studies, New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru, organised a Skill Development and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Outreach Programme at the Government School, Doddagubbi Village, to promote holistic development among school children.
Around 40 MBA student volunteers actively participated in planning and conducting activities for students from Classes I to VIII. The programme began with a yoga and wellness session that introduced children to basic yoga postures, breathing exercises, and healthy lifestyle practices. A hygiene awareness programme educated students on personal cleanliness, oral hygiene, proper handwashing, healthy eating habits, and disease prevention.
Various sports and recreational activities were conducted to encourage physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. The children participated enthusiastically in both indoor and outdoor games, making the learning interactive and enjoyable.
A passion development activity inspired students to explore their talents, interests, and creative abilities while enhancing their confidence and communication skills. As part of the skill development initiative, a paper bag-making workshop taught children a practical and eco-friendly craft. The activity also helped them understand the importance of reducing plastic usage and promoting environmental sustainability.
The outreach programme provided valuable opportunities for experiential learning and community engagement. A gift distribution ceremony was organised to appreciate the children’s enthusiastic participation and motivate them towards continuous learning. The event successfully strengthened the bond between New Horizon College of Engineering and the local community while fostering socially responsible leadership among MBA students.
